The Glass House
A Novel
Current Project
Diplomatic kids are supposed to make their parents and country look good. Estella Farmer’s job is to hide what her father is doing to her, while desperately trying to get someone to notice.
THE GLASS HOUSE is about sexual abuse in a diplomatic family set in Washington, D.C. and Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Set against the political and racial violence of the 1960s, it’s the story of Estella’s awakening and eventual healing as she seeks help, love, and community outside the world she’s been brought up in.
A chapter of The Glass House was a finalist in Narrative Magazine’s Winter 2024 Contest. Another excerpt was longlisted for the 2023 Disquiet Prize.
